Throwdown Esports are excited to announce that we will be hosting three of our biggest esports tournaments at PAX Australia 2017 in Melbourne, Victoria. Staged on a purpose built arena, spanning across three days, it represents a massive opportunity for players to compete on the big stage. PAX Australia is the largest video and tabletop gaming festival in Australia, connecting international shows with local events and communities. It is being held in the Melbourne Convention Centre from October 27 to 29.
The first game to be announced at the Throwdown PAX Arena will be Rocket League, with the finals of the Rocket League OCE Championship, where the best players in the region are competing for the chance to represent the region at the $150,000 USD World Championship in November and a share of $25,000 USD.
Luke Lancaster, PAX Australia Content Manager said, “PAX Aus is doubling down on an amazing year in Australian esports by partnering with Showdown to bring a second stage to PAX Arena. In addition to our returning ESL stage, the new Throwdown stage will showcase some of the best gaming talent ANZ has to offer, and we are incredibly proud to be strong supporters of the burgeoning local esports scene.”
