Rocket League Challenge Season 3 - Finals Recap

Finals Recap

The end of Season 3, and 6 weeks of competition, but it all comes down to this, the Gauntlet Finals. Anyone can win, but some have a harder journey than others, with both Billy Fan Club and Scylla Esports starting at the bottom of the ladder, and needing to win 3 series in a row, with Pale Horse eSports and JAM Gaming as the final hurdles to become Season 3 Champions.

Quarter Final

Billy Fan Club come in as the Season 1 and 2 champions, coming from from RLCS, they haven't looked as strong, but now they have the chance to prove that they can perform when it matters. Scylla, being denied from World Championship Qualification in Gmae 7 overtime by BFC in Season 2 have everything to prove, and it showed. Scylla clean swept the series prevent BFC from their third championship, their 6th major tournament in a row, and putting them up against Pale Horse eSports.

Semi Final

Pale Horse came in with no expectations, a community qualifying team, it was great to see them perform throughout League Play, but now this is a high pressure situation. They handled it well with a 4 - 1 victory over the rising tide of Scylla Esports! This would be Pale Horse's first Grand Final entrance in any major competition, and it's against the one team that took them down during League Play, JAM Gaming.

Grand Final

The Grand Final was shaping up to be an epic confrontation, the most veteran team in the scene against the newest team in the scene. Old vs young, steady and patient vs fast and unpredictable. With two hugely different playstyles, it was up to Pale Horse eSports to set the tone of the match, and to execute crisply enough for JAM Gaming to not be able to punish them. Each game was close, with the calm collected JAM Gaming taking the first 3 games by just 1 goal each time. Pale Horse seemed on the ropes, but was able to secure game 4 before being dismantled by JAM Gaming.

Congratulations, JAM Gaming are the champions of Season 3, as they break the 2nd place curse and take their first major tournament since mid 2016! Well played to Express, shadey and Montyconnor.
